The local cuisines of Pune

The local cuisines of Pune have the unique flavor of coconut and garlic. And at the same time, green chilies are used in large amount to prepare local cuisines in Pune, thus making the dishes spicy. The main course in the traditional food of Pune includes of dishes which are prepared of jowar and bajra. If you are planning to visit the city, you can enjoy some sweet specialties like chewda, bhakerwadi and pedas.

A traditional Pune meal includes of the following items:

* Puran Poli, which is a sweet paratha with pulses/dal
* Amti, masala dal
* Pithla Bhakri, a masala chickpea gravy with a stiff roti
* Varan Bhat which is dal and rice
* Matki Ki Usal which is usually masala sprouts
* Thali pith is a spicy chickpea based pancake
* Alu chi Vadi steamed and fried potatoes
